About The Position

ROLE SUMMARY Establishes and consistently maintains a unique Subaru retail facility standard for the promotion and sale of brand-focused merchandise and accessories that support sales, the customer experience, and the long-term customer retention goals of Subaru of America (SOA). Develops the Subaru retail merchandising strategies for SOA while collaborating with the Parts, Marketing, and Sales departments Empowers Subaru retailers, Subaru field team, and Distributor partners with the assets, tools, and training that support the promotion and sale of brand-focused merchandise and accessories. Leads the vendor partner relationships and holds them accountable for retail space design and asset development. Manages the Merchandising Specialist to maximize the development of accessory and merchandise sales efficiency through development of retail fixtures and displays. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Leads and maintains ownership of the development and execution of the Subaru merchandising strategy for retail accessories and gear in order to maximize retail accessory and gear sales. Communicates the strategy to various Subaru of America (SOA) departments, field teams, and Subaru vendor partners for final retail execution and the tracking of retailer accessory and gear sales results. Directs the Subaru facility design partner and fixture vendors in the creation and maintenance of a physical and digital fixture portfolio for retail execution. Exercises the authority to onboard vendors and support and influence contract negotiation. Manages retail facility design development with plan-o-grams for accessory and gear display placement strategies during the facility design process. Creates and maintains available accessory and gear inventory in collaboration with the SOA and Subaru Corporation (SBR) Marketing and Parts departments for retail sales. Establishes retailer-specific strategies to adjust product offerings for seasonality and current trends considerations. Creates an introduction presentation for retailer and field use that details the Subaru merchandising strategy. Creates, publishes, and maintains a retail manual for SOA field, Distributor partners, and retailer use for merchandise strategies that includes display recommendations, ordering processes, theft prevention strategies, and customer interaction skills. Updates the manual as needed based on trends, product changes, and learning. Develops and maintains in-store processes for accessory and merchandise display and customer interaction skills and provides guidance to the Training and field teams for implementation of these processes. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors ongoing consumer trends and product sales results for future product development; reports these trends to the impacted departments at SOA. Counsels field and retailer training efforts with presentations and presentation materials as needed. Leads the career development of the Merchandising Specialist through delegating and supervising various project responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on experience and empirical data.
  • Ability to present relevant information to small- and medium-size groups.
  • Ability to collaborate on and lead merchandising and sales strategies with Parts, Marketing, and Training Departments and Subaru Corporation (SBR).
  • Ability to make informed and credible accessory and gear merchandising recommendations for retail operations.
  • Ability to direct, oversee, and hold accountable multiple vendor partners.
  • Financial acumen to understand how to interpret sales and inventory figures and to determine strategies based on them.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; highly successful at handling multiple priorities
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience leading the creation and development of retail merchandising strategies, including retail plan-o-gram creation, customer interaction skills, and display placement required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain and enroll for approval by internal risk management to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
