With over 22,000 sq. ft. of event space, it’s a premier destination for retreats, conferences, and celebrations. #PGH-SKL What you will have an opportunity to do: The Gift Shop Supervisor at Skamania Lodge supports the Resort Merchandising Manager by overseeing the daily operations of the lodge’s Gift Shop. This role ensures that merchandising plans, visual standards, and guest experience initiatives are executed effectively, while leading the Gift Shop team to provide exceptional service. The Gift Shop Supervisor helps maintain a retail environment that reflects the beauty, culture, and character of the Pacific Northwest and the Columbia River Gorge, while supporting the lodge’s revenue and guest satisfaction goals.

Requirements

  • Available to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a retail environment
  • Requires typing, CRT, record keeping, or word processing.
  • Requires strong leadership and coaching abilities with a focus on guest service excellence.
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires interest in regional products, culture, and the Pacific Northwest lifestyle.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gift Shop Operations & Store Management Execute the daily operations of the Gift Shop in alignment with the Manager’s direction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually compelling retail environment that highlights the Pacific Northwest and the Columbia River Gorge.
  • Manage inventory processes including receiving, stocking, replenishment, data entry and loss prevention.
  • Oversee cash handling, point-of-sale operations, and end-of-day reporting.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide feedback to staff to optimize results in line with departmental goals.
  • Team Leadership & Staff Development Supervise, schedule, and mentor Gift Shop team members, ensuring adequate coverage to meet operational needs.
  • Train staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and guest service standards set by the Resort Merchandising Manager.
  • Foster a team culture that emphasizes warm hospitality, authentic storytelling, and pride in Skamania Lodge and the surrounding region.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching, feedback, and recognition to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Guest Experience & Program Support Assist in the preparation and fulfillment of in-room amenities, curated gift packages, and special retail programs.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of place.
  • Support seasonal décor updates, promotional events, and merchandising initiatives directed by the Resort Merchandising Manager.
  • Visual Merchandising & Product Support Implement visual merchandising plans and product placement strategies developed by the Resort Merchandising Manager.
  • Communicate guest preferences, product performance, and sales trends to support assortment and inventory decisions.
  • Assist in inventory counts, product ordering, register programming, invoice processing, database maintenance and stock organization under the guidance of the Resort Merchandising Manager
