About The Position

The Retail Store Manager will plan, direct, or coordinate the daily operations of the retail store. They will drive sales by establishing quotas and goals. They will partner with GoodWorks to implement and monitor training programs for all associates. The store manager supports the organization’s mission to enable employment by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth, while committing to sustainable practices.

Requirements

  • Speak and understand the English language sufficient to read materials, communicate with customers and coworkers.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in all levels of duties.
  • Detail-oriented with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with supervision and leadership of employees.
  • Must have experience with money handling procedures.
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Experience operating office equipment including computer, telephone, fax and copy machine.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams and Excel
  • High school diploma
  • 3 years recent retail supervisory or management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree in Marketing, Retail or related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate volume of merchandise on sales floor; ensures production and rotation volume is sufficient to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Assists GoodWorks staff with implementation of work plans and guidelines as established for client programs, as assigned by store manager.
  • Works various shifts including weekends as assigned.
  • Operates facility within budgeted expense levels and maintains and controls expense to revenue.
  • Manages workflow and facility layout to ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Maintain store presentation standards, e.g., organization, standardized classification, stock rotations, proper inventory levels, signage, and housekeeping.
  • Ensures that continuous improvement is in process and implemented.
  • Maintain proper cash controls in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Creates positive public image of Goodwill through clean store environment, organized and attractive displays, and presentable and personable sales staff.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer and donor service standards are met.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate and timely sales, production and rotation, inventory, quality, trucking, after-market recycling and daily/weekly/monthly reports and records.
  • Plans weekly/monthly scheduling of store personnel to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Completes required paperwork accurately, neatly and within established time limits.
  • Recruits, hires, orientates, and trains employees; Provide feedback for performance reviews and accountability concerns.
  • Ensures highest level of professionalism and uses best practices in the leadership of store personnel.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, participants, customers, and the public using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Safeguards company property, including donated goods.
  • Reports any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Evaluate and address performance issues with a high level of communication between the Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, and associates involved.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with all levels of store leadership.
  • Prepares and conducts timely performance reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.
  • Consistently demonstrates sound leadership practices.
  • Performs duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects Goodwill’s mission and ethics, in accordance with all Goodwill policies, procedures, codes of conduct, CARF standards, and accepted business practices.
  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety, loss prevention and risk management for self and others into daily activities and ensures participation in Goodwill safety programs.
  • Attends required safety training and will participate in safety drills and exercises.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are always in good working order and uses equipment safely.
  • Requires punctual and regular attendance.
  • Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.
  • Works cooperatively with all organization employees, participants, customers, and other persons contacted during performing duties.
