About The Position

At TJX Companies, the Retail Store Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a primary focus on floor care. This role involves operating cleaning equipment such as scrubbers and buffers, as well as performing tasks like dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows. The associate is expected to adhere to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards. They will be cross-trained to work in multiple areas of the store to support business needs, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor. The position requires role modeling established customer experience practices, supporting a positive store culture, and maintaining cleanliness standards across the entire store, including sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms. The associate must also adhere to company policies regarding health and safety, merchandising philosophy, signage standards, and labor laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a clean and organized store environment with a focus on floor care
  • Operation of the scrubber and buffer
  • Dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows
  • Adhering to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards
  • Cross-trained to work in multiple areas of the store in order to support the needs of the business
  • Role modeling established customer experience practices with internal and external customers
  • Supporting and embodying a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect
  • Maintaining all floor care cleanliness standards including the maintenance and operation of the scrubber and buffer
  • Maintaining all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the entire store, e.g. Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom and Restrooms
  • Adhering to all company policies concerning Health and Safety (includes the refilling of all essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms and Front End)
  • Cross-trained in other areas of the store (Backroom, Front End, Sales Floor, etc.)
  • Supporting and responding to all Front End coverage needs
  • Adhering and upholding merchandising philosophy and signage standards
  • Initiating and participating in store recovery as needed throughout the day
  • Adhering to all operational and loss prevention controls in accordance with company guidelines and policies including shrink reduction
  • Communicating accurately and effectively with management and Associates
  • Adhering to all labor laws, policies, and procedures, including Associate meal and break period policies
  • Participating in safety awareness maintains a safe environment
  • Other duties as assigned
