About The Position

This position is responsible for engaging with customers in a retail setting to assist with product selection, provide product education, and represent the Ruffwear brand to create exceptional customer experiences. This position supports ongoing store merchandising and inventory management, as well as testing of new retail concepts for the Ruffwear brand. This is a Part-Time, Hourly role with variable hours, typically averaging 20-25 hours per week. We are unable to guarantee a minimum number of hours each week, but we will do our best to provide a consistent schedule. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of retail or customer service experience, including cash handling and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A knack for connecting with people and helping them feel valued.
  • Ability to handle customer service issues in a calm, effective, and professional manner
  • Ability to problem solve resulting in informed customer solutions independently and on the fly
  • Comfort physically interacting with dogs (and their humans) of all temperaments, sizes, shapes, breed, ages, abilities, backgrounds, etc.
  • Availability to work a variety of store hours, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Passion for the outdoors, dogs, and the a first-hand understanding of the interactive bond between canines and humans (don't worry, you don't need to own a dog to work here).
  • While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly works in a retail store setting.
  • The position requires the ability to lift heavy objects, such as boxes of product (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, bend, and/or kneel on the floor.
  • This position requires reliable transportation to and from the Ruffwear Retail Store.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with a brand in the pet, outdoor, or consumer product industry is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers to provide exceptional service that enhances their experience and relationship with the Ruffwear brand.
  • Contribute to achieving sales revenue targets through customer outfitting and sales of Ruffwear products.
  • Educate customers on products, usage, fitting, and care, and guide customers toward product recommendations based on their needs.
  • Manage the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and process customer transactions accurately.
  • Maintain knowledge of current promotions, sales, and Ruffwear policies.
  • Support the execution and maintenance of inventory, merchandising, and store cleanliness standards.
  • Open and/or Close the Retail Store without supervision.
  • Confidently interact with dogs (and their humans) in a retail environment.
  • Support execution of public and private events, both in-store and off-site, as directed (must be available for bi-annual Sales Rally and Warehouse Sale events).
  • Occasionally support the Returns Team in unpacking, inspecting, cleaning, and re-packaging returned products for resale, as needed.
