About The Position

Looking for passionate and energetic individuals that share a love for the outdoors while meeting the needs of our guests. Come join our team at one of the industry leaders in Outdoor Adventure at our Great Outpost Outfitter Store in downtown Gatlinburg, located right next to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. As a Shift Supervisor, you will become an expert in all of our products, apparel, gear and adventure offerings, along with expert knowledge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the surrounding trails. Plus an added bonus of having access to all of our NOC's outdoor activities, gear, apparel, and footwear at special discounted rates only for NOC Guides. Plus dozens of free/discounted access to several local area attractions in TN & NC. This position is a Full Time YEAR ROUND, BENEFITS eligible position that provides Paid Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Pay. Requirements

  • Must be self-sufficient and work independently as well as contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate patience and enthusiasm while communicating with potential customers, employees and vendors.
  • Ability to work accurately under stress and pressure to meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask several projects at once.
  • Tenacity to handle rejection and continue with a positive attitude when reaching the next potential customer, employee or vendor.
  • Basic computer skills to operate our POS/Inventory system.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Helps customer/employees make selections by building customer/employee confidence.
  • Attention to detail. Strong organizational skills.
  • Available to work a variety of hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to stand/walk on your feet for several hours at a time.
  • Keep or regain the body's balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
  • Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
  • Constant use hands/arms/upper body to handle, control, or feel objects, stock merchandise, move displays, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted. And up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to walk up and down stair, 20 at a time, several times a day, while carrying up to 5 pounds
  • At times you may be required to work outdoors, and must dress appropriately for the current weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by using active listening skills and able to convey information, suggestions and inspiration to guests.
  • See details of objects a few feet away and to see differences between colors, shades, and brightness.

Responsibilities

  • Discovering guest needs through engaging and inspiring interactions and providing viable solutions for each guest.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Maintaining/creating a visually appealing presentation with products/signage.
  • Maintain all product is always fully stocked. Maintain store cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Learn all aspects of the role, products & services offered by NOC.
  • Learn the local area, National Parks, and Hiking Trails to assist with the providing guests with needed information.
  • Process sales accurately and timely. Sample Food & Beverage products to guests, as needed.
  • Ensures accurate processing, merchandising and back stock of all products shipped and received by the store.
  • Accurately and effectively tracks inventory movement throughout the year and ensures all product are being accounted for and processed accurately by all staff.
  • Ensures all retail staff are properly trained and able to process guest transactions accurately to ensure accurate tracking of retail products.
  • Maintains organization, effectiveness and cleanliness of all primary and secondary stock locations.
  • Assists in managing and maintaining all supply needed for the store and within store budgets. Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of executing annual physical inventory counts.
  • Maintains and manages all inventory categories are within company guidelines and within budgets.
  • Assists in managing inventory turns and identifying fast and slow-moving products.
  • Assists in managing employee engagement and adherence to all NOC company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to effectively motivate, engage and inspire employees to follow company guidelines regarding customer service, customer interactions, merchandising standards and overall visual appearance of the store.
  • Must be able to process daily deposits and process daily receipts according to NOC company guidelines.
  • Assists in managing employee attendance, discipline, training & development and holding employees accountable to company standards.
  • Must be proficient at managing the location without supervision for store opening, closing and maintaining customer services and employee engagement to company standards.
  • Must be able to model the desired behaviors, policies and procedures consistently.
