About The Position

BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service. Summary : Weighing and purchasing inbound scrap, obtaining required information from customers for all transactions, complete purchasing and shipping documents and daily reconciliation of transactions.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Strong communication skills to successfully interact with employees, management, and customers
Strong writing skills to effectively complete paperwork
Strong computer skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel)
Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner with attention to detail
Strong customer service skills
Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Work authorization: No sponsorship available

Responsibilities

Weighing and purchasing inbound scrap
Obtaining required information from customers for all transactions
Complete purchasing and shipping documents and daily reconciliation of transactions
Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures
Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program
Responsible for following all legal requirements on purchasing materials. These requirements include, but are not limited to; check ID, take pictures of seller , record vehicle information, etc.
Communicate pricing information and material specifications to customers with the ability to connect well with all levels of customers and management
Ensure good customer relations by acting in a courteous, safe, and professional manner
Interact with employees on other scales to verify/restrict duplication of purchases
Inspect materials for non-acceptable items (i.e., propane tanks, PCPs, batteries, flammable liquids, non-metallic items, etc.)
Ensure metals that are purchased are correct and properly classified
Print tickets for customers to receive payment for materials sold
Control traffic patterns in yard and direct customers to proper location to unload materials
Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed
Other duties as assigned by your manager , including during downtime working in the yard grading truckloads of scrap
