About The Position

The Retail Sales Lead Worker is responsible for coordinating operations within a correctional facility, specifically overseeing the in2work and rise up programs. This role involves training and supporting incarcerated individuals in the kitchen and program activities, ensuring tasks are assigned effectively, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The Lead Worker serves as a role model, fostering a professional atmosphere and addressing any guest service issues that arise.

Requirements

  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Level 2 ServSafe certification (will train/certify if not; must certify within 90 days).
  • ServSafe instructor/proctor certification (will train/certify if not; must certify within 90 days).
  • Mathematical skills for sales reports and audits.
  • Flexibility to work a rotational schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Fluency in the native language, both spoken and written.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office programs.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as photocopiers, vacuum cleaners, calculators, printers, telephones, and POS systems.
  • Professional grooming and demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Hold pre-shift meetings to communicate daily tasks and important information.
  • Teach in2work and rise up classes to incarcerated individuals.
  • Test students of the in2work and rise up classes to assess their progress.
  • Act as a concierge resource for guests, providing information about the surrounding areas.
  • Train in2work graduates and fellows to develop customer service skills.
  • Ensure smooth operations in the absence of management and handle customer relations issues effectively.
  • Respond to customer complaints and resolve them in a professional manner.
  • Maintain inventory, noting out-of-stock items and potential shortages.
  • Order merchandise from vendors to meet demand.
  • Complete monthly safety inspections and file incident reports as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and a pleasant atmosphere in food service areas.
  • Collect and compile daily cash and sales data using Microsoft Excel and POS systems.
  • Lead nightly closeout procedures and balance cash with daily sales.
  • Assist management in scheduling employees and assigning work tasks.
  • May assist with hiring in2work and rise up graduates.
  • Coordinate and submit payroll for the department, ensuring accuracy.
