About The Position

Work as part of a team to maximize daily sales. A Sales Associate actively participates in all stages of our Store operations. This includes accepting donations, pricing and sorting, stocking the selling floor, and working as a Cashier. Each task is related to providing customer service, making a sale, or acquiring donated goods. Nothing is more important than the contact the associate has with each customer/donor. As a staff member of the Texas Litter Control Resale shop, the associate represents the Texas Litter Control agency and will be called upon to convey the agency mission to customers and donors. Resale shop Associates must be team players and have a positive attitude. Care for and clean up after animals housed in the resale shop for adoptions, TNR/Community Cats, and house cats. Basic housekeeping duties including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, etc.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Cashier experience
  • Excellent customer skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people from all walks of life
  • Knowledge of brands – new, used, vintage, collectables, and knowledge of pricing and trends in clothes and home goods
  • Ability to handle a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic is a must.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and life objects more than 40 pounds
  • One-year experience in a high-touch customer service position
  • Verifiable employment references
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: The number one priority of all Resale shop Associates is to provide the best customer service possible.
  • Cash Register Procedures: The TLC Resale shop Associate follows all cash register operating procedures. They handle cash, charge cards, and other register transactions. They adhere to opening and closing procedures.
  • Pricing and Sorting: Each employee is assigned a general merchandise area. The TLC Sales Associate is required to learn and follow the pricing guideline for that particular area. Knowledge of pricing exceptions is very helpful.
  • Product Knowledge: Each Associate should know the location of merchandise on sales floor, what we do and don’t carry, and be aware of current in-store sales and promotions.
  • Stock/Rotation: The Associate stocks the sales floor with priced merchandise, placing it in proper location.
  • Donation Receiving: The Employee receives donations from donors and records the receipt of items.
  • Loss Prevention The Employee follows store policy and procedures for shrinkage prevention. This includes, but is not limited tobag checking, greeting customers, and reporting unusual activities to a supervisor.
  • Selling Floor Maintenance: Each TLC Associate works in conjunction with other staff members to make sure the selling floor is neat and clean. They organize merchandise based on the store standards for the specific department.
  • Safety: Associates follow all safety procedures and rules. This includes, but is not limited to, practicing proper lifting techniques, knowing locations of emergency supplies/equipment, cleaning up after tasks, and reporting possible safety hazards.
  • Perform adoptions on cat/kittens in resale shop.
  • Clean cat room and cages in the resale shop.
