About The Position

This position involves processing donated items into inventory for sale in Goodwill stores and interacting with customers while stocking the sales floor. Excellent customer service skills are essential for this fast-paced, goal-driven environment. The Associate I, Retail Production will primarily work in a production setting, sorting and processing donated items according to company quality standards and guidelines, including pricing and testing. Responsibilities also include ensuring the sales floor is well-stocked, organized, and presentable. The Associate may occasionally engage with customers, providing excellent service and answering product questions. Assignments may vary across hardlines, softlines, housewares, electronics, mechanical goods, books, or shoes, based on business needs, and may occasionally involve working in donations.

Requirements

Must have attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
Ability to use basic technologies to be able to follow company standards.
Ability to use judgement to assess quality and value of product and pricing, researching value as necessary.
Ability to see color and use judgement to assess quality and value of product and pricing, researching value as necessary.
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
Must have the ability to use a dolly and pallet jack as required.
Must be able to work a varied schedule which may include weekends, evenings and holidays as needed with occasional overtime.

Nice To Haves

A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One (1) year of retail experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Meets or exceeds minimum productivity standards and expectations/Key Performance Indicator (KPI)s for assigned duties.
Sort donated items by type (books, media, textiles, housewares, etc.) which include season, color, and quality of product.
Hang, size and price, tag, and prepare items to be sold on the sales floor.
Inspect and quick test items as needed that plug-in or run on batteries to ensure the product is in good workable condition.
Make decisions to price according to Goodwill standards of quality and value of product (good, better, best), which may include researching the item’s value on the internet or utilizing other company tools and standards.
Ensure production and sales floor areas are well organized, stocked, properly merchandised, and clean.
Provide excellent customer service to fellow staff and customers; answer product questions as needed.
Rotate or pull old or unsold product in a timely manner from the sales floor to ensure product selection is refreshed as necessary.
May have additional responsibility of processing E-Commerce product (sort, hang, size, price, tag, etc.).
Follow all retail center policies and procedures.
Ensure work areas are clear and organized and adhere to continuous improvement standards.
Follow all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
Cross-train in other departments or areas; act as a back-up for other areas as required.
Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.
