About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician 2 helps distribute medications and related tasks. They can work independently and maintain a specialized area while aiding in pharmaceutical care. Essential Functions of the Role include maintaining a specialized area of responsibility, aiding in delivering care in Purchasing, Receiving, Auditing, Sterile and nonsterile compounding, Billing, Informatics, Medication Reconciliation, Licensing, Contracting, and Marketing. The technician will enter medication orders from doctors' sheets or prescriptions, fill according to the label, ensuring the correct product is dispensed, and ensure the dosage form and charge quantity match the formulary. They will also complete and file appropriate paperwork to ensure payment for and delivery of pharmacy supplies, monitor lost charges, order supplies daily, and coordinate returns for credit when pharmaceuticals have expired. The technician will coordinate the Drug Recall Process, help maintain a clean, orderly, and fully stocked work environment under established policies and procedures, perform inventory control, and compound or admix ingredients appropriately for dispensing, cart fill, and sterile preparation while under the supervision of the Pharmacist. They will perform IV admixtures using aseptic techniques and in compliance with accepted regulatory standards as required, help patients and medical staff with nonjudgmental questions under a pharmacist preceptor's supervision, answer simple questions from medical staff and patients, and deliver medication appropriately to patients, and deliver delivery carts to floors daily.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 1 Year of Experience
  • Pharmacy Technician (PHT) or Pharmacy Intern (RPH-INT) certification from the TX Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities
