About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Support role provides essential clerical, customer service, and cashier support within South Lake Hospital’s outpatient pharmacies. This PRN/Pool position supports daily pharmacy operations, enhances the patient experience, and assists with medication distribution programs such as Meds to Beds. This is an entry‑level opportunity ideal for individuals seeking exposure to pharmacy operations in a hospital outpatient setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Successful completion of the in‑house Pharmacy Support Assistant entry‑level training program
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand Basic English
  • No prior experience required

Responsibilities

  • Performs cash handling responsibilities, including daily opening and closing clerical procedures
  • Completes pharmacy and over‑the‑counter sales while delivering exceptional customer service
  • Bags, files, and organizes completed prescriptions ready for patient pickup
  • Demonstrates understanding of dispensing and point‑of‑sale systems relevant to the role
  • Delivers medications to pharmacy locker systems and directly to patients participating in the Meds to Beds program
  • Coordinates medication delivery and method of payment for Meds to Beds patients
  • Answers phones and appropriately routes calls based on caller needs
  • Contacts patients or prescribers to follow up on outstanding issues related to prescriptions
  • Performs prescription pickup reminder calls and completes return‑to‑stock for aged prescriptions
  • Assists with receiving and putting away medication, supply, and OTC orders
  • Manages supply inventory, submits replenishment orders, and monitors for outdated products
  • Performs daily cycle counts and other inventory‑related tasks
  • Maintains files and understands procedures for historical prescription storage
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy leadership
  • Develops a working knowledge of outpatient pharmacy workflows and processes
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and applicable regulations
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • Establishes and maintains open, respectful communication with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and team members
  • Meets productivity and volume standards established for daily job assignments
