About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Intern position at Hy-Vee is designed to provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while filling prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The intern will assist with various pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and will be part of a team committed to supporting customers and each other. This role is part-time and located in Council Bluffs, IA.

Requirements

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience
• Enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy and registered with State Pharmacy Board as an intern
• Ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems
• Ability to compose original correspondence and follow technical manuals
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
• Ability to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet

Responsibilities

• Fills and helps process prescriptions
• Provides prompt and efficient service
• Assists with inventory control, maintaining inventory levels by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information into the computer
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
• Prepares prescriptions and affixes labels to prescription containers
• Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
• Assists in training employees
• Assists with monthly inventory
• Follows security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance Programs
• Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
• Maintains a professional appearance
• Adheres to company policies
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time
• Assists in other areas of the store as needed
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
