About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Supervisory-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities: N/A Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities: Hand-delivers medications to patients. Availability to customer/patients at all times. Maintains a friendly and helpful attitude at all times when dealing with customers. Collects signatures from patients for proof of delivery. Assist with other courier functions as required throughout Memorial Regional Health. Provides assistance to Retail Pharmacy and the pharmacist as needed. Receives prescription from patient. Prepares outpatient orders for checking by the pharmacist. Assists in maintaining patient medication profiles and records. Packages drugs and pre-pour liquids (where applicable and allowed by law). Stocks pharmacy working areas. Returns drugs to shelves. Orders drugs and supplies. Maintains inventory stock cards. Prepares purchase orders. Checks in orders from vendors. Checks stock for expired, unusable, and excessive items. Participates in taking of pharmacy inventory. Bills and credits patients. Prepares any necessary paperwork or reports for forwarding to Cardinal Health Innovative Delivery Solutions, etc. Assists as necessary in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy. Performs office support: answers telephone, types, files, photocopies, bills/credits, data entry, and operates the cash register. Maintains bulletin boards, information files, etc. Understands that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the department change. Performs other duties as assigned. Completes all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates; actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes as required. Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established timeframes. Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies. Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check and meet insurability Guidelines (if applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age of older
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must not have three (3) or more violations in three years
  • Must not have any of the following violations, regardless of the time period: ▪ Homicide involving a vehicle ▪ Using a vehicle to elude an officer ▪ Hit and run ▪ Manslaughter with a vehicle ▪ Felony with a vehicle ▪ False report to police department ▪ Permitting an unlicensed driver to drive
  • Any two or more preventable accidents in 3 years – a preventable accident is any traffic accident which results in property damage and/or personal injury, regardless of who was injured, what property was damaged, to what extent, or where it occurred, in which the driver in question failed to exercise every reasonable precaution or action to avoid the accident. Driving to avoid preventable accidents is defensive driving. The fact that the driver was not charged with a traffic violation by law enforcement is not a part of our definition.
  • Any driver convicted of any of the following within the last five years: ▪ Any alcohol or drug-related offense, including, but not limited to, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
  • Customer service skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
