Southeast. Always the right career direction. Job Description Summary Retail or Outpatient Staff Pharmacist provides safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services to all patients or customers. The pharmacist will abide by all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations. Job Description Essential Functions Verification of all prescriptions for completeness and accuracy. Monitors patient therapy for therapeutic duplications and drug interactions. Monitors prescriptions for accurate billing and use most cost effective National Drug Codes (NDC). Assists in the inputting, filling and dispensing of prescriptions when necessary. Provides patient medication counseling when requested Assists in overseeing pharmacy technicians. Assists in the verification of specialty prescriptions. Assists in the inputting, filling, shipping of specialty prescriptions. Maintains notes and records of any pertinent changes or necessary communication related to the patient, medication, or billing of medications. Assists in inventory management and maintaining most cost-effective NDCs Adheres to all AL Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requirements. Reports any unusual situations, complaints, near misses, or errors promptly to the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager. Participates in assessing daily workflow for improvement. Performs other duties as requested by primary manager that do not compromise moral code of conduct or protocols set in place for patient or employee safety

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • Alabama Pharmacy License
  • Federal DEA license to dispense control substance
  • One (1) year experience in any pharmacy practice setting
  • Maintain current Alabama Pharmacy License
  • Maintain current DEA License
  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge of dispensing software and ability to trouble shoot billing related software issues.
  • Demonstrates strong desire and ability to trouble shoot and resolve any patient related issues.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to adhere to and enforce any current or newly added policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in communication with other staff, nurses and prescribers when a prescription needs clarification or adjustment.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with patients, families, visitors, and co-workers regardless of race, gender, disease process, life-style, religious or cultural beliefs.
  • Knowledgeable about maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Accepts accountability for own work and team outcomes when appropriate
  • Demonstrates appropriate utilization of supplies
  • Demonstrates cost effectiveness in the use of supplies and equipment as indicated by minimal wastage of supplies
  • Demonstrates commitment to organizations five (5) priorities and Six Ground Rules

Nice To Haves

  • Pharm.D. from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • Three (3) years’ experience in retail pharmacy
