About The Position

The Retail Pharmacist at Kennestone Hospital's Emergency Department is responsible for overseeing all pharmaceutical and financial activities within the pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards while providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients. The pharmacist will supervise pharmacy technicians, manage medication storage and tracking, and participate in policy development to improve departmental operations.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist upon hire.
• Knowledge of computerized retail pharmacy systems.
• Experience in all phases of pharmacy operations, including medication order interpretation and inventory management.
• Familiarity with retail pharmacy marketing strategies.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to supervise employees.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service attitude.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise all pharmaceutical and financial activities in the pharmacy.
• Ensure compliance with WellStar Health System policies and regulatory standards.
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including preparation and dispensing of medications.
• Check prescriptions for correct dosage and drug interactions.
• Compound prescribed medicines and package them appropriately.
• Store and preserve medications, including vaccines and serums.
• Record prescriptions dispensed and manage controlled substances inventory.
• Provide advice and information on medication use and effects to patients and family members.
• Supervise pharmacy personnel and establish work schedules.
• Interact with prescribers and nursing staff to promote pharmacy services.
