About The Position

The Retail Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the key retail accounts at store level in the handling, use, and merchandising of our specialty cheese and grocery products. The Retail Merchandiser will ensure Fortune Fish & Gourmet’s service standards are maintained, support promotional activities, train the retailers’ staff, and demonstrate our products to consumers. To be successful in this role, you must be able to work in a collaborative environment with other Fortune departments, our supplier network, and our customers to achieve sales and profit objectives. This role is essential in maintaining and growing business.

Requirements

  • Experience – 2-3 years of retail and foodservice; merchandising experience preferred.
  • Work ethic – A demonstrated sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines and manage many projects simultaneously.
  • Language – Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Skills- proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office. Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Have a can-do attitude and roll up sleeves to get the job done and creativity and a passion for food and the food industry.
  • A combination of the above will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular visits to retailer locations in the market to ensure Fortune products are stocked and attractively and prominently merchandised, properly handled, rotated, stored, and packaged.
  • Present Fortune products in a professional manner to store personnel and consumers.
  • Develop specific product knowledge to clearly articulate the features, benefits, and uses of Fortune products.
  • Build and maintain rapport with department managers and account personnel.
  • Train retail staff in product attributes, and proper cutting and wrapping techniques.
  • Be aware of and support promotional calendars and events at store level.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve customer issues promptly by employing a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Remain current and report on local market trends and conditions that affect current and/or potential sales movement.
  • Communicate in an effective manner with all stakeholders and respond to all forms of communication, including email, voicemail, and phone calls, promptly.
  • Work flexible hours as needed.
  • Adhere to customer’s case reset schedule.
