About The Position

The Retail Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day retail operations while supporting key revenue channels, including in-store sales, eCommerce fulfillment, and specialty programs such as Build-A-Bear. This role ensures a high-quality customer experience, drives operational efficiency, and provides leadership to Retail Sales Associates. The Retail Manager also supports pop-up retail events and provides coverage across store locations as needed. This role offers a clear pathway for professional growth, with potential advancement to Director of Retail based on performance and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • College degree and 2–3 years of relevant experience in retail management, sales, or marketing
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of retail accounting and inventory control practices
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with technology and retail systems
  • Professional, friendly, and positive demeanor with a commitment to excellent customer service (internal and external)
  • Proven ability to lead teams and foster a collaborative, accountable, and motivating work environment
  • Strong numerical accuracy; ability to operate a 10-key calculator
  • Ability to lift and carry 25–35 pounds and able to stand for long periods of time
  • Reliable transportation and telephone required, along with proof of automobile insurance
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the values and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willingness to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency, organization, and strong sales performance
  • Maintain high standards for customer service and mission-aligned engagement
  • Ensure daily sales reports are completed daily and accurately as well as end of the month reporting to accounting
  • Support inventory management, including receiving, transfers, and cycle counts
  • Execute visual merchandising standards and maintain store presentation
  • Supervise, schedule, and support Retail Sales Associates
  • Ability to coach and develop high-performing team through effective staff development, retention and ongoing performance feedback
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage across locations and events
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with staff and members tactfully while maintaining confidentiality
  • Support eCommerce operations, including product submissions, order processing, fulfillment, and customer communication
  • Ensure timely and accurate handling of online and in-store pickup orders
  • Oversee execution of Build-A-Bear experiences, ensuring organization, inventory readiness, and positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine and lead unique sales ventures
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Schedule will be Tuesday thru Saturday (occasional Sundays)
  • Regular travel between store locations and offsite events may be required
  • Availability to support pop-ups, specialty programs, and evolving business needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Retail Operations and/or management
