Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and reliable Retail Glazier with expertise in residential and commercial service glass. As a Retail Glazier, you will be responsible for assisting in the installation, repair, and service of glass in both residential and commercial properties. This includes performing shop duties, loading and unloading materials, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring high-quality installation practices. You will also work closely with clients and team members to ensure timely and professional service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a glazier in both residential and commercial settings.
  • Proven experience in glass installation, repair, and replacement.
  • Experience with a variety of glass types, including tempered, insulated, laminated, and custom glass.
  • Strong knowledge of glass cutting, handling, and installation techniques.
  • Familiarity with using glass-related tools and equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess damage and determine the best repair or replacement solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy items, including glass panels and materials, up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the dexterity and coordination to handle small, detailed tasks and large materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a recognized trade school or apprenticeship program (preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Glass Installation & Service Measure and cut glass to precise dimensions using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Ensure that installations meet safety standards and adhere to building codes and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at installation sites.
  • Assist in the preparation and cutting of glass for both commercial and residential projects in the shop.
  • Measure and cut glass to exact specifications, ensuring proper fit for windows, mirrors, doors, and other glass applications.
  • Operate various glass fabrication machinery, including glass cutters, edge polishers, and automatic cutting tables.
  • Cut, shape, and grind glass to meet design specifications for both residential and commercial projects.
  • Use tools like sandblasters, drills, and polishing tools to smooth and shape edges for high-quality finishes.
  • Provide high levels of customer service and professionalism when interacting with clients, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding glass products, installation options, and services offered.
  • Schedule appointments for in-home or on-site evaluations and installations.
  • Provide accurate estimates and invoices for glass repair and installation services.
  • Address any client concerns or issues with a prompt and effective resolution.
  • Demonstrate clear communication with customers, team members, and supervisors throughout service and installation.
  • Safely load and unload glass materials and supplies from delivery vehicles to the shop or job site.
  • Ensure all materials are handled properly to prevent damage and that proper safety protocols are followed.
  • Organize glass and other materials in a manner that makes them easily accessible for team members.
  • Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure the safety of oneself, co-workers, and customers.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials, such as broken glass and other debris.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws regarding glass installation and repair.
  • Assist with general shop and warehouse duties, including inventory management, cleaning, and organization.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, providing updates on job progress and potential challenges.
