This role will be based at the Rock n Road Mission Viejo location A critical member of the Specialized retail network, the General Manager balances excellence in retail operations with a passion for the power of a great brand. The General Manager maintains the culture of the business and sets up the tone of the stores across multiple locations in a region. The ideal candidate has a consistent record encouraging successful, profitable retail, and wants to take that expertise to the next level as a driver of outstanding brand experience in a non-conventional retail setting. Beyond being a well-adapted business leader, the General Manager works collaboratively with multiple store teams, retail partners, and local riders as a host, mentor, brand advocate, and customer service ace. Ultimately, you’re driven by the desire to lead a team toward maximum productivity and efficiency. A Specialized General Manager will oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of the local Specialized retail stores. This role also works cross-functionally with other members of the Specialized team to facilitate store-based events passionate about education, product launches, advocacy, and brand innovation.

Requirements

  • Passion for cycling and the Specialized brand
  • A current or former retail manager with minimum 2 years of team management experience
  • Proven multi-location management experience, ideally overseeing 5+ stores or equivalent complexity
  • Excellent communication with the ability to effectively interact with riders and team members
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule Monday through Sunday as business dictates
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, forecast trends, plan for growth, and make decisions that align with long-term business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, budgeting, and cost control to ensure profitability across multiple locations.
  • Familiarity with retail management systems and data analytics tools to optimize operations.
  • Comfortable leading through organizational changes, implementing new processes, and driving adoption across teams.
  • Capable of managing cross-functional initiatives such as events, product launches, and activations.
  • Experience recruiting, training, supervising, and appraising staff
  • Ability to handle complex interpersonal situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Demonstrated success in team building and leadership development
  • Ability to stand for extensive time periods; while occasionally walking, kneeling, or reaching
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs. or more and use proper lifting skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee six retail locations spanning Orange County to San Diego, ensuring operational excellence across all sites.
  • Lead by example with a strong in-store presence, fostering a rider-first culture and adherence to SOPs.
  • Drive store goals and KPIs through data-driven decisions to optimize performance and profitability.
  • Develop and retain top talent through coaching, mentoring, and performance management across multiple locations.
  • Create an elevated rider experience by enabling team flexibility between service and sales roles.
  • Build inclusive, authentic relationships with customers, team members, and local cycling communities to reinforce brand presence.
  • Manage budgets for localized sales and marketing programs and maintain accurate reporting to operations leaders.
