About The Position

The Facilities Technician – Retail requires regular travel between store locations to perform diverse maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring each site remains safe, operational, and visually appealing. The Facilities Technician is responsible for verifying that all equipment and building systems comply with regulatory standards for safe operation. In addition, the technician maintains and repairs machinery and building components, including refrigeration units, fire protection systems, and alarm systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of building systems and repair techniques.
  • Work independently and manage time effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Be willing to travel frequently, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Adapt to varying shift schedules, weekends, holidays, and on-call emergency situations.
  • Leverage experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Show proficiency with basic computer and mobile device applications.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with team members and store personnel.
  • Exhibit a self-starter mindset with minimal supervision required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to assigned store locations and execute routine maintenance and urgent repairs without delay.
  • Quickly assess and prioritize repair needs in real time to minimize operational disruptions and maintain safety.
  • Make decisive repair choices based on urgency, impact, and available resources—often independently.
  • Perform immediate evaluations of equipment, infrastructure, or facility issues to determine corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to initiate repairs swiftly and effectively.
  • Maintain constant awareness of facility conditions to anticipate failures and act proactively.
  • Document all decisions and actions for accountability and future reference.
  • Schedule and perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs, engaging Facilities Management as needed.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and record findings accurately.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and work orders with effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with store managers to minimize disruption during repair activities.
  • Keep tools and equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Track and report completed work using the CMMS system for transparency.
  • Communicate daily with store management and Facilities Management Team regarding property and equipment issues.
  • Assist with small renovation or improvement projects as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
