About The Position

The Retail Experience Associate (REA) will build relationships with Girl Scout volunteers and families in the community, working to provide excellent customer service in person, over the phone and by email, to drive and ensure excellence in the adult and girl retail customer experience. The person in this role will implement the day-to-day operations of the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) council shop located in Lubbock, including selling merchandise, monitoring, and evaluating inventory stock levels, and placing orders to ensure adequate merchandise supply is available. The REA will also creatively and proactively work to meet the needs of customers via pop-up shops at programs and events, serving as a knowledgeable resource on all things Girl Scouts. This position requires daily use of Salesforce to provide exceptional customer service and support to our members. The work moves at a faster than average pace, so the ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment. Accuracy and efficiency are essential attention to detail must be consistently high, with tasks completed quickly, correctly, and with strong follow through. This position must prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access to ensure there is an ongoing climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to all. The Retail Experience Associate in collaboration with the Retail and Systems Inventory Manager will exercise discretion and judgment with respect to matters of significance. Part-time 20 to 25 hours per-week: Monday through Thursdays 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., frequent Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., occasional weekday mornings and evenings and additional weekend hours as needed for special events and office coverage.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in retail or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  • Membership in Girl Scout organization.
  • Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
  • Experience in Salesforce is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work with staff, volunteers, third party vendors and other businesses.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
  • Ability to utilize with fluency the internet and other technical computer skills in GSTOP systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to sort and process mail and to generate labels for envelopes, first class, priority, express, FedEx, UPS, and certified mail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Product Program and Retail Lead.
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Salesforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers exceptional, respectful, and professional service to internal and external customers across all channels (in-person, phone, email).
  • Maintains a welcoming, customer-focused environment in all public areas of council facilities.
  • Utilizes Salesforce to research customer profiles and provides personalized service and support.
  • Educates customers on the Girl Scout Program Portfolio, including the appropriate use of uniforms, insignia, and related merchandise.
  • Assists customers in navigating online systems and field general questions related to programs and events.
  • Promotes and supports GSTOP initiatives, membership activities, public relations, and fundraising efforts.
  • Oversees daily operations of the Lubbock council shop, including opening and closing responsibilities and pop-up shop support.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of sales transactions, daily cash receipt reports, and bank deposits.
  • Monitors inventory levels; assists with restocking, proposes reorders, and supports seasonal and annual inventory counts.
  • Keeps sales areas clean, organized, and visually appealing; supports merchandising and product display standards.
  • Assists with receiving, processing, storing, and displaying merchandise in the store and stockroom.
  • Identifies sales trends and collaborates with the Retail and Systems Inventory Manager to develop promotional strategies tailored to customer needs.
  • Maintains accurate records of customer interactions, transactions, and inventory adjustments.
  • Responds to inquiries by phone, email, and walk-in traffic, providing problem-solving and solution-oriented support.
  • Provides administrative support to other departments as needed, including copying, assembling materials, filing, data entry, equipment check-out, and front desk coverage.
  • Monitors office supply levels and assist with business machine maintenance.
  • Stays informed on organizational policies, as well as relevant federal, state, and local regulations applicable in Texas and Oklahoma.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
