About The Position

At TJX Companies, the Retail Department Coordinator is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process efficiently and effectively as a team. This role also focuses on delivering an excellent customer experience through engagement and interaction, and by maintaining a clean and organized store. The coordinator is expected to role model exceptional customer service, foster a positive internal and external customer experience, and promote a culture of honesty and integrity while maintaining confidentiality. They orchestrate truck deliveries, prioritize merchandise processing, and train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles. The coordinator ensures merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded, and communicates with the Coordinator on Duty for efficient flow of goods to the sales floor. They monitor team productivity, provide coaching, organize back stock, uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards, and maintain cleanliness and recovery in the backroom. Compliance with recycling and hazardous waste programs is also part of the role. The coordinator communicates effectively with management and Associates, provides and accepts feedback, partners on training needs, and ensures adherence to labor laws and company policies. They also promote credit and loyalty programs, support shrink reduction goals, and maintain a safe environment.

  • 1 year retail experience
  • 6 months of leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Executing receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring Associates are processing efficiently and effectively, and working as a team
  • Ensuring an excellent customer experience by engaging and interacting with all customers, and maintaining a clean and organized store
  • Role modeling exceptional customer service
  • Creating a positive internal and external customer experience
  • Promoting a culture of honesty and integrity; maintaining confidentiality
  • Orchestrating truck delivery, prioritizing the processing of merchandise onto the sales floor
  • Training and mentoring Associates on established merchandising and processing principles
  • Ensuring merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded
  • Communicating with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to sales floor
  • Ensuring Associates complete tasks and activities according to store plan; prioritizes as needed
  • Monitoring productivity of team and coaches as necessary
  • Organizing and rotating back stock for easy replenishment
  • Maintaining and upholding merchandising philosophy and signage standards
  • Maintaining all organizational, cleanliness and recovery standards for the backroom area
  • Ensuring compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs
  • Communicating accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; provides progress updates
  • Providing and accepting recognition and constructive feedback
  • Partnering with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
  • Ensuring adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
  • Promoting credit and loyalty programs
  • Supporting and participating in store shrink reduction goals and programs
  • Promoting safety awareness and maintains a safe environment
  • Other duties as assigned
