About The Position

The Retail Crime Investigator at Weis Markets is responsible for investigating and resolving external theft incidents, including shoplifting and organized retail crime. This role involves gathering and analyzing intelligence on criminal activities, documenting findings for prosecution, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies. The investigator will also provide guidance to store Asset Protection teams and support stores during significant business disruptions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Business, or a related field preferred.
• One (1) year of retail loss prevention experience in a retail store environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve external theft incidents such as shoplifting and organized retail crime.
• Gather, analyze, and evaluate intelligence on individuals and groups involved in retail crime.
• Document information thoroughly to aid in successful prosecution.
• Provide guidance to store Asset Protection teams on investigative plans.
• Operate the store CCTV system and conduct undercover surveillances.
• Act as a liaison between Weis Markets and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
• Refer cases to law enforcement for prosecution.
• Represent Weis Markets professionally in court hearings and mediations.
• Manage time and scheduling effectively to meet company needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights.
• Travel to multiple locations within an assigned area to provide investigative support.
• Partner with Store Management and associates to protect company assets.
• Support stores during significant business disruptions such as robbery, protests, and natural disasters.
