About The Position

Under close supervision and according to detailed instructions, the Retail Pharmacy Technician - Certified accurately processes orders and delivers medications for to designated areas; refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication charges, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physician's orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies, height, weight) when needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of college or completion of a para-professional pharmacy training program, or Certified Pharmacy Technician Licensure or National Certification.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Skills to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year hospital experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician License.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures customer service and teamwork while conducting responsibilities.
  • Fills medication orders, charges/credits all medication, stocks, delivers, and inspects assigned areas.
  • Performs bedside delivery of medication.
  • Maintains competency in professional growth and responsibilities.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
