About The Position

Ever wonder what it’s like to spend your summer at the heart of a world-class museum? Here is your chance. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is looking for Summer Seasonal Staff to join our team and help our retail shops thrive during our busiest season of the year. This isn’t just "working a register." You’ll be a key part of the guest experience, helping visitors of all ages find the perfect memento to remember their day of discovery. If you are reliable, high-energy, and love the buzz of a fast-paced museum environment, we want to meet you. This seasonal, temporary role runs from March 2026 through August 2026, featuring a consistent schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. most days, with a shift extension until 9:30 p.m. for our Friday night events.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • 6 months’ experience in a fast-paced restaurant and retail environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to pass any required certification for food, liquor health and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • POS experience.
  • Basic cash handling or point-of-sale experience.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and enthusiasm for creating joyful, memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and answer customers' questions, and provides basic information.
  • Ensures that food safety and security standards are met and adhered to consistently.
  • Resolves customer issues as they arise, in a way that is best for the guest.
  • Takes responsibility to learn all aspects of the sales position including opening and closing protocols.
  • Stocks merchandise throughout the shift and before leaving to ensure a full retail space when open.
  • Keeps merchandise displayed in an orderly manner.
  • Handles money and can count back change. Receives payment by cash, credit cards, or automatic debits. Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Adheres to cash handling policies and compliance standards. Maintains a clean and orderly checkout area.
  • Maintains the Retail Operations space to address any required health and safety requirements.
  • Actively tags merchandise, restocks and merchandises stock as needed.
