About The Position

Join our Food & Nutrition team as a Retail Associate and play a key role in creating a welcoming experience for our guests. In this role, you’ll provide friendly customer service, assist with basic food preparation under supervision, and handle cashiering responsibilities—all while following Indiana State Department of Health regulations and departmental procedures. This is a great opportunity for candidates seeking consistent daytime hours and a flexible schedule. We’re looking for individuals available to work at Café Soleil at the Eskenazi Health Thomas & Arlene Grande Campus from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on three weekdays per week. There may also be opportunities to pick up additional cashiering shifts on the main Eskenazi Health campus, working 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of one year of general work experience or currently enrolled in a higher education institution

Responsibilities

  • Delivers excellent customer service at all times and works as a team member to provide the most efficient service to guests.
  • Maintains a calm and professional demeanor during periods of high volume to promote a positive guest experience and stable working environment.
  • Proficiency in the Micros POS system to ring up orders and cash out guests.
  • Responsible for accurately entering cash and credit card transactions; applying discounts, coupons and promotions appropriately and is accountable for any drawer imbalances per department policy 400-7.1 “Cash Register Variance”
  • Maintains appropriate sanitation levels in the work area in compliance with Indiana State Department of Health and Marion County Health Department regulations (proper labelling, FIFO and hand washing)
  • Possesses knowledge of menus in retail operations; verbalizes the menu options to guests and guides their experience to sell product
  • Assists with the delivery of online orders around the main Eskenazi Health campus.
  • Checks orders for accuracy and completes deliveries in a timely manner.
  • Assists with basic food preparation and possesses knowledge of food safety
  • Completes side work at the beginning and end of shift as assigned including but not limited to cleaning duties, food prep, stocking and assisting in other areas of the operation as needed.
  • Works as a food handler during special events and in satellite retail operations as needed
  • Maintains assigned retail area in a way that is appealing to customers; ensuring product is merchandised well, stocked fully, rotated and priced appropriately
