About The Position

The Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Retail Manager with retail operations at Meow Wolf Denver. Major duties include supervision of retail staff and daily retail operations as directed by the Retail Manager. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Assistant Retail Manager assists in ensuring profitability of retail operations by effectively managing all business aspects of the retail department, such as opening and closing procedures, cash handling, restocking, inventory control, loss prevention, managing staff, and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years leadership experience in retail/entertainment/operations environment
Proven work experience as an Assistant Retail Manager or similar leadership role
Hands-on experience with point-of-sale systems
Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
Experience training staff and identifying training needs
Ability to lead and manage staff
Good judgment in difficult and complicated management situations
Ability to maintain an appropriate, dispassionate demeanor in emergencies, difficult customer interactions, and interactions with personnel
Ability to follow and enforce safety rules
Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment
Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night
Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

Nice To Haves

Adult + Child + Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred
Prior experience with visual merchandising
Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish preferred
Excellent customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

Assist with managing labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Division and the site specifically
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Encourage, and maintain internal and cross-departmental communication
Assist with training staff to provide a memorable and uniquely Meow Wolf level of service to guests
Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance
Assist Retail Manager with supervision of Retail Leads and Retail Associates
Fulfill all Manager on Duty duties, skills, and knowledge, including the ability to perform any role within the Retail department
Assist with creating effective schedules to ensure work centers are well staffed during peak hours
Assist with payroll and schedule changes
Assist with making projections for hiring needs
Assist with recommending, creating, and communicating policies and procedures
Maintaining knowledge of events, special programs and projects and communicating them to the staff
Assist with tracking fluctuations in visitation numbers and adjusting staffing levels accordingly
Directly support all site initiatives including, but not limited to, the role-playing element required of all staff members when interacting with guests
Hire and train staff to provide a memorable and uniquely Meow Wolf level of service to guests
Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance
Assures the store is properly stocked and visually merchandised as required
