As a Retail Alterations Tailor/Seamstress Lead, your primary responsibility will be to sew garments, either repairing or altering them to meet customer preferences. You will operate sewing equipment and perform a variety of alterations, including reconstructing backs, sides, collars, and bodices, inserting shoulder pads, and adjusting hems. Additionally, you will provide expert advice on garment fit and care, ensuring that customers leave satisfied with their tailored items. You will also supervise the alterations staff, providing training and coaching to ensure high standards of service and quality are maintained. In this role, you will be responsible for writing up alterations tickets that detail the work being done on each garment, pressing and steaming items before returning them to customers, and maintaining an inventory of alterations supplies. You will need to be knowledgeable about various styles, fits, and fabrics to better assist customers and ensure that all procedures and policies are followed by your team. This position may also involve performing other duties as necessary to support the overall operations of the store.
