About The Position

As a Retail Alteration Specialist Associate, you will be responsible for altering pants according to custom specifications and needs. This position requires knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion, and the marketplace to effectively alter garments for customers. You will have a clear path to promotion opportunities every 3 months based on individual performance, with competitive compensation starting at $20 per hour.

Requirements

• At least six (6) months prior sewing/fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department
• Strong communication skills, fluency in English mandatory
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, read computer terminals, push, pull, move, lift or carry objects of at least 25 pounds
• Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom, repetitive bending, prolonged standing, twisting, stooping, squatting, and climbing
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the business needs, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., or 6 months retail or related experience

Responsibilities

• Sew hem of pants with industrial sewing machine
• Trim excess threads using scissors
• Measure, cut and sew hems following seams, edges, or markings on pants
• Alter pants hemlines to fit individual customers
• Maintain brand and operational standards (visual, cleanliness, etc.)
• Pro-actively manage customer needs and exceed expectations
• Act as cashier when required by following cashier protocol
• Process shipment and ensure all merchandise is represented on the floor in full size runs
• Assist management to identify and resolve issues in the store
• Provide product and brand knowledge to customers
• Follow all company policy and procedures & notify management of any infractions
• Assist with special projects as assigned by management
