About The Position

We offer competitive compensation for Alterations Specialist Sales Associates starting at $17.50 / hour along with a clear path to promotion opportunities every 3 months based on individual performance! The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position. Position Overview: Clothing alterers, tailors or seamsters are needed to alter pants according to custom specifications and needs. In this position, the Alterations Specialist will use their knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion and the marketplace in order to alter pants for customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least six (6) months prior sewing/ fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department
  • Maintain specified productivity guidelines
  • Strong communication skills, fluency in English mandatory
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the business needs, including evenings and weekends
  • Average 32 or more hours per week based on business seasonality. Open availability on weekends (religious exemptions will be considered). Restrictions on availability limited to two days per week. Minimum of 12 hours availability per week
  • Minimum of 12 hours availability per week

Responsibilities

  • Sew hem of pants with industrial sewing machine
  • Trim excess threads using scissors
  • Measure, cut and sew hems following seams, edges, or markings on pants
  • Alter pants hemlines to fit individual customers
  • Working knowledge of sewing machines such as lock stitch, blind stitch, and serge machines
