About The Position

The Restricted Fund Compliance Manager will support RPI in fulfilling its responsibilities for endowment compliance by ensuring gift and endowed funds are expended in accordance with donor intent and that administrative obligations of the gift agreement are met. The Manager will also partner with campus offices around unspent gift funds and endowment payout for donor-funded endowments to identify and facilitate solutions to encourage consistent annual spending. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in endowed fund management, gift agreements, or gift compliance.
  • Relevant combinations of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge regarding endowed fund management, gift agreements, and gift compliance.
  • Technical, financial, and software skills - proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and institute partners.
  • Exercise a high degree of sensitivity in dealing with confidential donor information.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to successfully manage complex, multi-phase projects from inception to completion while balancing multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Advanced technical and financial skills, including strong computer literacy and proficiency with systems, software, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience reviewing complex donor agreements or other legal documents.

Responsibilities

  • Supports RPI in fulfilling its responsibilities for restricted fund compliance by ensuring gift and endowed funds are expended in accordance with donor intent and that administrative obligations of the gift agreement are met.
  • Oversees spending of donor-funded gifts and endowments, with an emphasis on those with accumulated unspent payout.
  • Reviews operating fund charges to determine if restricted funding should be used to support department initiatives.
  • Manages and recommends actions for endowed funds that cannot currently be spent; gains an understanding of agreements and policies to categorize action paths to resolution.
  • Coordinates strategic review and resolution of spending impediments with Institute Advancement, Finance, General Counsel, and other university leadership, as appropriate, with the goal of significantly reducing unspent payout.
  • Conducts comprehensive financial audits and offers independent fund analysis, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and fund inquiries related to restricted fund spending.
  • Serves as the key point of contact for partners across campus regarding spending restrictions and preferences related to donor-funded gifts and endowments.
  • Communicates regularly and proactively the status and scope of findings to multiple stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with Institute Advancement on stewardship reporting to donors, ensuring funds are spent appropriately and financial information provided is up to date, accurate, and accessible.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Financial Aid in awarding endowed scholarships.
  • Understands the technology involved in matching students to scholarships and makes recommendations for improvements and the use of AI where practical.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
