About The Position

The Restricted Fund Accountant position is part of the Sponsored Projects Accounting and Compliance (SPAC) team within the Office of the Controller and collaborates closely with the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP). This role primarily supports post-award activities for grants and contracts, including fiscal management, effort verification, and compliance with reporting requirements. Under the direction of the supervisor, the position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to sponsored projects including student loans. Responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting award terms and conditions to ensure accurate and timely award setup in Workday and/or Banner. Additionally, the accountant reviews and initiates monthly, quarterly, and annual grant journal entries, completes timely reconciliations to facilitate invoicing and financial reporting to various funding organizations. This position ensures compliance with policies and guidelines of MSU Denver, as well as federal, state, local, governmental, and non-governmental funding organizations. While the responsibilities outlined here reflect the primary duties of the role, workload and tasks may vary, and additional responsibilities within SPAC may be assigned as needed to support evolving business needs.
