The Steering Wheel & Driver Airbag Restraints D&R Engineer is responsible for the design and release of restraints components and systems for new and current vehicles including: Managing project timing, releasing drawings and engineering specifications. Creating specific FMA Documents, DVP&R, and quality documents. Part delivery on time for each program milestone. Tracking of supplier's deliverables. Focus Commodities include Steering Wheels and Driver Airbags. Potential support for Seatbelts, Airbags, Buckles, Height Adjusters, etc. The Steering Wheel & Driver Airbag Restraints D&R Engineer responsible for the design and release of restraints components and systems for new and current vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and release Restraints System commodities, subsystems, and components for the assigned programs. Commodities include Seatbelts, Airbags, Steering wheels, Buckles, Height adjusters etc.
  • Monitor the development of Interior trim and other interfacing components for Ford vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks.
  • Design parts to comply with Corporate, Regulatory and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as Manufacturing and Assembly requirements.
  • Translate Customer, Regulatory, and Product requirements into engineering targets.
  • Monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through Ford's systems.
  • Incorporation of new designs and engineering changes at Assembly Plants and leading discussions with involved parties including suppliers.
  • Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues.
  • Support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production.
