About The Position

The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore in Williston is seeking a Donations Truck Driver to support its mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Department: Williston ReStore and on the truck, throughout Chittenden County, in-person FLSA Status: Full Time Hourly, Non-Exempt Schedule: Five Days Per Week (according to store needs) Reports To: Procurement Manager Supervises: none Summary: The Donations Truck Driver is responsible for picking up donated items throughout Northwest Vermont using a box truck. This includes following a schedule, communicating with donors, and using safe practices to move donations. The driver must be able to assess conditions of donations, quickly adapt to changes in the pickup schedule, and effectively communicate GMHFH's mission to donors. Unlike typical delivery or transport driving roles, this position offers meaningful community impact as you directly support families building their first homes while connecting with generous donors who share your values.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience driving a 20ft box truck or similar.
  • Able to effectively communicate with donors and other truck staff.
  • Dependable and able to stick to a schedule.
  • Excellent customer service skills to respond to any questions or concerns.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to assign tasks to others.
  • Flexibility to switch to different tasks quickly.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize without supervision.
  • Able to drive defensively and safely throughout Vermont.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the schedule set by the dispatcher to pick up donations across Northwest Vermont's scenic communities. Communicate with the dispatcher to implement any changes to the pickup schedule.
  • Greet customers and assess the condition of donations that are scheduled to be picked up. Approve or deny donations based on if they are in good, sellable condition.
  • Share GMHFH's inspiring mission with donors and provide proper documentation for their donations.
  • Provide directions to the Driver Associate or volunteers and answer any questions.
  • Strictly follow set procedures relating to safe vehicle operation, proper loading practices, and accident reporting.
  • Assist in keeping trucks well maintained and clean, including transporting to service centers, and performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Attend community and GMHFH events and assist with set up.
  • Once pickups are completed, assist with warehouse operations, including pricing donations received or moving product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
