About The Position

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity transforms communities by acting as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, innovative development, partnerships, and long-term relationships with families. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated and reclaimed building materials and supplies. All proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission. The ReStore Sales Associate supports Atlanta Habitat’s mission by serving as a point of contact for donors and customers, representing Atlanta Habitat for Humanity as well as the ReStore. The ReStore Sales Associate is directly responsible for: Interacting positively with donors and customers Assisting with the retail operation, including operating the Point of Sale (POS) system Providing superior customer service to donors and customers Processing and pricing of donated items Merchandising and displaying items in an attractive, sellable manner Gaining knowledge of items and merchandise for sale at the ReStore to provide to customers Maintaining the clean, organized look of the store Moving merchandise onto and off of the sales floor as needed Following all store policies and procedures Supporting the ReStore in reaching annual goals Job Conditions: The position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Regular workdays for this position are Tuesdays through Saturdays. Some flexibility in the schedule is required. This position is classified as non-exempt. The ReStore Sales Associate reports to the ReStore Store Manager, and is a member of the organization’s ReStore Department. This position is subject to periodic DMV checks for driving record and valid driver’s license. This position is subject to a criminal and credit background check and drug and alcohol testing. The ReStore Sales Associate is expected to use discretion and independent judgment in carrying out his/her responsibilities and to represent the organization in a professional, knowledgeable and collegial manner at all times. Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of retail sales experience.
  • Retail experience with construction or building materials and/or hardware preferred.
  • Knowledge of fair market values of new and used building materials.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, work standing or walking for a full work day, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions.
  • Operate POS system with proficiency.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to coordinate volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities.
  • Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet research ability a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each customer receives superior service by providing a friendly environment, which includes but is not limited to: Greeting and acknowledging every customer.
  • Maintaining knowledge of store products, promotions and policies.
  • Assisting customers with purchases and providing technical assistance.
  • Offering to load merchandise into customer vehicles. Making sure the loading process is safe, well-organized, and meets customer needs.
  • Resolving customer and donor concerns in a positive, helpful manner.
  • Providing all other aspects of superior customer service.
  • Ensuring all phone and email customer interactions meet the standard of superior customer service.
  • Share the Atlanta Habitat message.
  • Offer option to customers to subscribe to email list.
  • Ensure the donation process is respectful of the donor’s time and contribution.
  • Return all e-mails and phone messages from customers within one business day.
  • Contribute to meeting the sales goals.
  • Assist with setting up the store for weekly retail hours.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures accurately and timely.
  • Operate cash register with proficiency and balance daily receipts.
  • Assist in floor moves, restocking, merchandising, pricing merchandise, display maintenance and housekeeping as required.
  • Report customer and volunteer concerns to the ReStore Assistant Sales Manager.
  • Follow all written store policies and procedures.
  • Support the goals and objectives of the ReStore.
  • Report facility and equipment problems to the ReStore Assistant Sales Manager.
  • Accept donations and provide receipts per policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist with coordinating volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
