About The Position

Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual for the position of Restorative Practices Manager (PSM I). This position is key to ensuring that all adult and juvenile residents have access to a fair, equitable, and supportive environment leading to their successful reintegration into society. This position has some remote flexibility and requires statewide travel to Central Office in Augusta and to State correctional facilities in South Portland, Windham, Warren, Charleston, and occasionally to Machiasport, ME. MDOC is transforming the corrections system to better serve Maine's communities through the Maine Model of Corrections. Our approach focuses on promoting the safety of staff, residents, and clients, while eliminating barriers to meaningful rehabilitative opportunities. We embrace restorative justice practices to help justice-involved individuals gain essential skills, such as education, treatment, and job training, that empower them to become productive, contributing members of their communities. Requirements

  • Education, training, and/or experience in a behavioral science, human services, social science, criminal justice area, or a closely related field.
  • Directly related experience working with people in a treatment and/or correctional setting.

  • Knowledge of community resources and support services.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of establishing work standards and work simplification.
  • Knowledge of on-the-job training methods, techniques, and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the operations and delivery of Restorative Practice initiatives within correctional facilities.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Establish community partnerships and resources.
  • Provide training and act as a liaison between the facility, residents, communities, and victims.
  • Conduct research to enhance and expand program effectiveness.
  • Oversee the supervision and training of Restorative Justice Coordinators at each facility.
  • Train staff and residents in restorative practices.
  • Facilitate restorative group circles and other programming.
  • Manage the ongoing development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the Department's Restorative Justice programming.
  • Oversee contract compliance and create program policies, guidelines, procedures, and protocols.
