POPULATION SERVED The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population. POSITION SUMMARY The Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) is responsible for providing restorative nursing care to ensure patients attain or maintain the highest possible physical ability. The RNA provides care to patients that are designed to strengthen muscle, assist with mobility, promote independence and prevent functional declines. This is in accordance with Central Valley Specialty Hospital’s policies and procedures, our current standards of care and applicable state/federal regulations.

Requirements

  • The RNA must possess current Certified Nursing Assistant status in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • CPR certification.
  • The RNA must have completed additional instruction and training in restorative care procedures and have appropriate documentation as evidence contained in their employment file.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and agrees with Central Valley Specialty Hospital’s philosophy and goal to maintain improve and/or enhance each patient’s quality of care and quality of life.
  • Performs active Range of Motion (AROM) and Passive Range of Motion (PROM) in a safe manner of patient’s as assigned by the Director of Rehab/Physical Therapist and the patient’s overall plan of care.
  • The RNA will ambulate patients as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator/Therapist while utilizing appropriate equipment or devices in a safe manner.
  • The RNA will follow treatment plan for patients that were given to RNA by Rehab Services Dept. along with 1:1 training prior to patient transition from Rehab Dept.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and post dialysis weights on all patients.
  • Assists patients with getting out of bed per nursing and rehab requests.
  • Assist patients to apply and remove splints or prostheses as assigned by Clinical Coordinator/Therapist and the patient’s overall plan of care.
  • Encourages the patient to perform tasks for him/herself as appropriate and as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator/Therapist and the patient’s overall care.
  • Provides good body alignment, positioning devices and contracture padding as appropriate and as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator/Therapist and the resident’s overall care.
  • Reports to the Clinical Coordinator/Therapist any adverse conditions experienced by the patient during the provision of restorative nursing care including, but not limited to, pain.
  • Monitors and assists with the performance of Activities of Daily Living ADL’s to promote patients involvement to the highest extent possible without patient decline unless the decline is documented as unavoidable.
  • Assists with keeping Rehab room clean after use.
  • Perform all duties and functions as listed in the Certified Nursing Assistant job description.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator/Therapist.
