About The Position

The Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) plays a crucial role in providing restorative nursing services aimed at assisting residents in restoring, improving, or maintaining their bodily functions to the highest degree practicable. This position is centered around the resident's assessment and care plan, and the RNA will work under the direction of supervisors to ensure that each resident receives personalized care tailored to their needs. The RNA is expected to embody the values of kindness and integrity, striving for excellence in every interaction with residents and their families. In this role, the RNA will perform a variety of essential duties that include assisting residents with passive and active range of motion exercises, providing support with splints and braces, facilitating bed mobility, and aiding in transfers and ambulation. The RNA will also assist residents with dressing, grooming, eating, and swallowing, as well as providing care for those with amputations or prostheses. Effective communication and positioning of residents, along with maintaining bowel and bladder continence and hygiene tasks, are also key responsibilities. The use of adaptive equipment such as walkers, canes, slide boards, and adaptive eating utensils is integral to the role, ensuring that residents can maintain their independence and dignity. Documentation is a critical aspect of the RNA's responsibilities. The RNA will be required to document objective information and care provided to residents according to facility charting guidelines. This includes daily charting of services performed and a weekly summary of resident progress with restorative services. Additionally, the RNA will report any observations regarding changes in resident functioning, behavior, mood, or physical condition to their supervisor, ensuring that the care plan is adjusted as necessary based on the resident's needs. The RNA will also provide input regarding the plan of care based on their experiences with individual residents, sharing successful methods or approaches that have worked in the past. This collaborative approach ensures that each resident receives the best possible care tailored to their unique circumstances. Other tasks may be assigned as needed, contributing to the overall well-being of the residents and the smooth operation of the facility.
