More about our team: Kindred Hospital St. Louis South is a 38-bed long-term acute care hospital, offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period, which includes a four-bed high observation unit for patients who need extra attention. POSITION SUMMARY: Provides rehabilitation/restorative nursing interventions under the supervision of the licensed nurse when a patient is discharged from formalized physical, occupational, or speech rehabilitation therapy, when a patient is admitted to the facility with restorative needs, but is not a candidate for formalized rehabilitation therapy, when a restorative need arises during the course of a custodial stay, or when a patient has restorative needs to supplement a skilled plan of care. These interventions promote the patient’s ability to adapt and adjust to living as independently and safely as is possible. This concept actively focuses on achieving and maintaining optimal physical, mental, and psychosocial functioning. Restorative nursing interventions, except for use of Continuous Passive Motion (CMP), do not require a physician’s order. The incumbent shall be accountable for carrying out all responsibilities in accordance with Kindred Healthcare CORE values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months experience as a Rehab Tech or Restorative Nursing Aide in a hospital or long–term care environment preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required

Responsibilities

  • Perform rehabilitation/restorative nursing interventions that assist or promote the patient’s ability to attain his or her maximum functional potential
  • Report patient responses to interventions and condition to the nurse, supervising therapist(s), or assistant.
  • Participate in facility/unit quality management activities.
  • Collect quality review data.
  • Participate in survey preparation activities.
  • Participates in facility/unit safety committee activities
  • Contribute to the delivery of cost-effective care.
  • Assist in formalized discipline specific and interdisciplinary group activities.
  • Participates in continuing education/professional development activities
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers and others
  • Adhere to policies and practices of applicable professional organizations, client hospital and Kindred Healthcare.
  • Contribute to client relations and marketing activities.
  • Maintain competency.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Contribute to development of improved efficiency and productivity of unit clinical/administrative functions.
