About The Position

A Restoration Field Specialist I is a leader who oversees field operations, ensures project success, and fosters a collaborative team environment. A Restoration Field Specialist I has a combination of technical expertise, team leadership, and field implementation skills to support ecological restoration and landscape projects. A Restoration Field Specialist I works closely with field leads, project managers, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Requirements

  • 6+ years' experience in landscaping, habitat restoration, construction, or similar outdoor labor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience leading larger field crews and providing hands-on training.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
  • Successful candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other relevant field.
  • Certifications in restoration ecology, pesticide application, or heavy equipment operation.
  • Prior experience in field lead or assistant field lead roles.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assigns daily tasks to large crews, ensuring efficient work execution.
  • Fosters a strong team mentality, working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.
  • Mentors, trains, and supports crew members, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Leads by example, providing guidance on tool usage, safety, and best practices.
  • Uses advanced knowledge of ecological restoration techniques, plant identification, and specialized tools.
  • Troubleshoots field issues, adapting project execution strategies to overcome challenges.
  • Communicates and assists other supervisors and managers with logistics, crew assignments, and scheduling to meet project demands.
  • Coordinates crew transportation, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
  • Works closely with project managers to anticipate and address project-related logistical challenges.
  • Follows and administers all safety procedures, ensuring strict adherence to company and regulatory safety protocols.
  • Leads Daily Task Hazard Analyses (DTHA) and tailgate safety meetings to reinforce a culture of safety.
  • Trains employees on workplace safety, proper tool use, and environmental compliance.
  • Provides technical input to project team members and clients to ensure project success while focusing on in-the-field implementation.
  • Oversees project execution, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Coordinates with supervisors and managers to adjust work plans, address challenges, and optimize efficiency.
  • Ensures proper documentation of work completed, including daily reports and field assessments.
