About The Position

A Restoration Field Lead II is a key leader in ecological restoration and field operations, responsible for overseeing larger crews, ensuring project execution aligns with company and regulatory standards, and providing technical expertise. Building upon the responsibilities of a Restoration Field Lead I, a Restoration Field Lead II supervises up to 8 crew members, uses specialized tools and technologies, and coordinates with supervisors and project managers to support logistics and scheduling. The Restoration Field Lead II plays a vital role in maintaining safety, fostering team collaboration, and ensuring high-quality restoration work.

Requirements

  • 4+ years' experience in landscaping, habitat restoration, construction, or similar outdoor labor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience leading larger field crews and providing hands-on training.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
  • As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre-employment drug test and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other relevant field.
  • Pesticide applicator certification.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role in fieldwork or restoration projects.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (not required but beneficial).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assigns daily tasks to crews of up to eight members.
  • Leads by example, providing training on tool usage, restoration techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Creates a strong team mentality by effectively working with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.
  • Ensures that work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications.
  • Performs ecological restoration, habitat management, and equipment operation.
  • Uses and trains crew members on specialized tools and technology required for specific projects.
  • Demonstrates strong ability to identify native and non-native plants on project sites, guiding restoration efforts.
  • Provides technical input to project team members and clients to support project success and on-the-ground implementation.
  • Follows and administers all safety procedures, ensuring all crew members adhere to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conducts and leads Daily Task Hazard Analyses (DTHA) and tailgate safety meetings to reinforce best practices.
  • Trains employees on proper safety protocols, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
  • Works closely with supervisors and managers to assist with crew management, logistics, and scheduling.
  • Maintains clear and open communication with project leads, clients, other members of the project team, and the public.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations to improve workflow, efficiency, and project outcomes.
