About The Position

The Restaurant Server at Hilton Garden Inn - Pismo Beach is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced dining environment. This role involves greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience. The server must adhere to all regulations regarding alcohol service and maintain cleanliness and organization in their work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service standards.
  • Understanding of guest relations and etiquette.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand menus and communicate with guests.
  • Ability to remember and promote menu items.
  • Ability to transport trays weighing up to 40 lbs. in a crowded environment.
  • Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment.
  • Proficient in using a keyboard and learning Point of Sale procedures.
  • Pleasant demeanor and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Clear and positive communication skills with guests.
  • Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays, including flexible shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year of previous serving experience.
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred.
  • CPR Certification and First Aid Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner, explaining specials and promotions.
  • Record order details from guests, repeating orders for accuracy.
  • Input orders into the Point of Sale computer system for kitchen notification.
  • Retrieve and deliver completed orders from the kitchen to guests, ensuring accuracy and including condiments.
  • Abide by all liquor regulations regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Replenish beverages and check on guest satisfaction throughout the meal.
  • Market and serve dessert items or specialty coffees upon request.
  • Ascertain guest satisfaction and present the check for payment.
  • Process checks according to hotel procedures.
