About The Position

The Valley Hotel, located in Homewood, Alabama, is seeking a Restaurant Server to join the team at Ironwood, a restaurant that blends open-flame cooking with Southern fare. The role involves ensuring guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing prompt and courteous food and beverage services. The server will greet customers, take orders, serve food and drinks, and accommodate special requests while maintaining cleanliness and adhering to service standards. The position requires memorization of menu items and the ability to respond to customer inquiries effectively.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Three to six months of experience in a food/beverage services environment.
• Ability to see detailed guest checks and observe the restaurant in dim lighting.
• Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items, and carry trays.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to lift, push, and carry 20-40 lbs.
• Ability to stand continuously for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet and take food and drink orders from restaurant customers.
• Serve orders and accommodate special needs/requests.
• Remain attentive to customers throughout the dining experience.
• Complete all restocking and cleaning duties as instructed.
• Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials.
• Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant and service areas.
• Control allocated guest checks and document required information.
• Receive proper payment from guests and ensure accuracy of checks.
• Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings.
• Respond to customer inquiries and comments.
• Present a clean and professional appearance.
• Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
