About The Position

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an energetic, guest-focused hospitality professional to join the opening team of the Grand Gardner Hotel as Restaurant Manager. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana. Opening in the second quarter of 2026, this independent, boutique hotel is uniquely positioned on a residential tree-lined street adjacent to vibrant downtown Valparaiso. Thoughtfully designed to provide an authentic sense of place, the property will feature 58 luxurious rooms and suites, a speakeasy, banquet spaces, a boutique spa, and multiple gathering areas throughout the hotel. The Restaurant Manager oversees all front-of-house food and beverage operations, including the restaurant, bar, banquet service and in-room dining. This leader is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and developing staff while ensuring consistent adherence to service and appearance standards. The Restaurant Manager builds strong guest relationships, drives service excellence, and collaborates closely with the Food & Beverage Director, Culinary team, and Sales departments to support operational goals and elevate the guest dining experience. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and service-driven hospitality leader with strong communication, organizational, and team-development skills. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in restaurant, bar, or hotel food and beverage operations is preferred. The candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office, point-of-sale systems, and standard restaurant equipment while demonstrating an ability to manage staff, guest interactions, and high-volume service environments. The role requires the physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, move quickly to meet guest needs, and work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience in a boutique or full-service hotels is advantageous. Requirements
