About The Position

Q39 is Growing – Join Our Exquisite Team! Kansas City’s award-winning BBQ is expanding! We’re opening a new location in Lawrence, Kansas, and we’re building an exceptional management team to help us bring our passion for world-class BBQ and scratch-made, chef-inspired cuisine to even more guests. At Q39 our passion is to create craveable, memorable dining experiences for all. The Restaurant Host serves as the first point of contact for Q39 guests, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere while managing the efficient flow of guests into the dining room, patio, and bar. This role is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations and the waitlist, coordinating seating assignments, and setting the tone for a positive dining experience.

Requirements

1 year experience at a full-service restaurant or hospitality setting
strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
Familiarity with reservation or POS systems preferred.
Friendly, polished, and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival
Manage the waitlist, quote accurate wait times, and record guest information in the reservation system
Plan and rotate guest seating strategically to support service flow and server balance.
Coordinate large party seating using the party guide
Accommodate special seating requests when possible
Escort guests to tables, present menus, and provide server introductions.
Communicate guest needs to servers and management as needed.
Assist with cleaning and resetting tables promptly if needed to ensure smooth guest turnover.
Thank departing guests and invite them to return.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area.
Collaborate with the FOH team to create a seamless and excellent guest experience.
When multiple hosts are scheduled, responsibilities will be divided and assigned to maximize efficiency and elevate the overall hospitality experience.
