THE ROLE Chetola Resort is seeking a disciplined, visionary, and service-obsessed Restaurant General Manager to lead Timberlake’s Restaurant. This is not simply a supervisory role—it is a chance to raise the bar of excellence and set the gold standard for dining in the High Country. The Restaurant General Manager will oversee all front-of-house operations and partner closely with the Executive Chef and resort leadership team. This leader will set, communicate, and enforce service standards; build and sustain a culture of accountability and pride; and create a guest experience that is as precise as it is warm. With an Assistant Restaurant Manager as a direct partner, the Restaurant General Manager will ensure every shift, every table, and every detail reflects the polish and professionalism of a luxury resort.

Requirements

  • A proven leader with a track record of successfully managing upscale dining or resort restaurants
  • Skilled at building culture—you know how to inspire, motivate, and hold people accountable in equal measure
  • Relentless about standards of excellence, with an eye for detail that never wavers
  • Calm under pressure, solutions-oriented, and energized by busy service environments
  • A natural coach and mentor who thrives on developing strong, service-driven teams
  • Minimum 3–5 years of restaurant management experience; upscale or resort dining experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in setting and maintaining high service standards and building team culture
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service, wine service, and health/safety regulations
  • Proficiency with POS systems and financial reporting
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and uphold the highest service standards across the restaurant, bar, and patio dining areas
  • Lead by example—consistently demonstrating flawless service execution, refined presentation, and professional guest engagement
  • Train, coach, and require staff to maintain consistency in the details that define guest experience—from perfectly set tables to polished glassware and aligned chairs
  • Inspect dining rooms and outdoor dining area continuously to ensure standards are not only met but exceeded
  • Build and nurture a culture rooted in pride, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Inspire, motivate, and recognize staff while holding each team member accountable to expectations
  • Partner with the Assistant Restaurant Manager to deliver consistent coaching, enforce discipline where necessary, and reward excellence
  • Champion communication, creating a workplace where staff feel both supported and challenged to grow
  • Oversee daily operations with precision, including scheduling, floor management, and shift readiness
  • Ensure accurate POS usage, cash handling, and financial reporting
  • Manage inventory and vendor relationships to maintain a well-stocked, organized, and efficient front-of-house
  • Lead the execution of private dining and holiday events with the same attention to detail as à la carte service
  • Partner closely with the Executive Chef to ensure seamless service, strong communication, and aligned priorities
  • Monitor and manage labor and cost controls, balancing efficiency with service excellence
  • Collaborate on menu development, wine and beverage programs, and seasonal promotions
  • Ensure compliance with all ABC laws, health codes, and safety standards
