About The Position

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property within the Woodside Hotel Group collection. This 290 room property has four penthouse suites, over 17,000 square feet of meeting space, expansive exterior space known as the Plaza, the Promenade and the Terrace, and an award-winning food and beverage program. Banquets, Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, Helmsman Lounge, Tidal Coffee, and Room Service provide guests, groups, and local visitors numerous dining options. Vista Blue Spa offers a wide array of services in an outstanding location on the penthouse suite level and hosts the Fitness Center in addition to retail and sundries. The Monterey Plaza’s mission is to consistently operate as one team, to produce raving fans, loyal guests and associates while achieving annual financial expectations. Enthusiastically taking care of our guests defines hospitality at our property. We are seeking a Restaurant Busser/Runner to join our team. Our Restaurant Busser/Runners provide expert support to the Restaurant team and help to ensure our guests receive timely and gracious service. In addition, it is through their efforts that we can operate a clean and well-stocked restaurant that is in keeping with the high standards we pride ourselves on.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively with the public and other team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Meets legal age requirement for the position.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Hospitality experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greets all guests in a friendly manner.
  • Sets and clears tables according to Hotel standards.
  • Assists Food Servers in servicing the guests.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Carries dirty dishes from dining room to the Kitchen.
  • Wipes table tops and chairs with damp cloth.
  • Replaces soiled table linens and sets tables with silverware and glassware.
  • Replenishes supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes in the service station.
  • Follows up on all service details for the Food Server.
  • Serves ice water bread and butter to patrons.
  • Cleans the floors when necessary.
  • Sets out and lights candles.
  • Cleans and polishes shelves and doors of service bars and equipment such as coffee urns and cream and milk dispensers.
  • Makes coffee, ice tea and fills fruit juice dispensers.
  • Completes all opening and closing side work.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • All other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
