  • Inspect and maintain facilities and grounds to keep them clean, safe, and functional.
  • Handle janitorial tasks, landscaping, and minor repairs.
  • Operate snow removal and maintenance equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate work with contractors and fill-in staff.
  • Engage with travelers, providing assistance and ensuring compliance with site rules.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, partners, and public agencies to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Six months of experience operating heavy or light motorized equipment, using hand and power tools, performing minor servicing of equipment, general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience, or training.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the state where the employee resides.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification and Bloodborne Pathogens training from an agency-accepted certification authority.
  • Candidates must reside within a 60-minute travel distance to the Rest Area to ensure timely response to on-call emergencies.
  • Experience performing basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, cleaning, and landscaping.
  • Experience using snow blowers and snowplows for snow removal and knowledge of how to operate irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a professional or volunteer setting.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs like email, spreadsheets, and word documents to help with reports and record-keeping.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience training or guiding team members on safe work procedures and proper equipment use.
  • Agency provided vehicle for travel to and from worksite.
