About The Position

In this exciting new role, you will be part of a highly motivated team of individuals that will specialize in the safe and orderly shipping, receiving, crating, uncrating, preliminary testing, and tear down of Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) also known as EV battery packs in support of our RESS root cause team.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years related work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts
  • Competence with typical office computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, shipping/receiving software (i.e. EPICOR)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to operate powered mobile and lifting equipment
  • Ability to physically lift material up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel by air and to safely drive a vehicle, with no license restrictions. Approximately 25% travel
  • General Working Knowledge of Dangerous Goods and Environmental Classifications of EV Batteries.

  • Knowledge of high voltage battery systems and safe work practices
  • High voltage battery experience – receiving material, tracking material, moving material, crating/uncrating, initial quality checks, or RESS tear down.
  • Logistics, Material Handling, or Material Movement experience of HV Components
  • Forklift certification
  • Crane and rigging certification
  • CFR 49 Hazardous Material Certified
  • High Voltage 2B Certified.
  • Experience with basic high voltage test equipment, measuring and recording devices.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronics diagnostics and repair

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient handling of high-voltage EV battery assemblies and related components, including shipping, receiving, storage, crating/uncrating, scheduling and initial pre-checks for the high-voltage battery packs.
  • Perform physical duties involving moving large HV EV batteries around the facility, shipping and disposal.
  • Operation and use of forklifts, overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements.
  • Coordinate the packaging, tracking and shipment of root cause components to suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Support the creation of Standard Operating Procedures for processes and procedures to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Actively participate and sustain workplace organization practices.
  • Participate as part of the Field Response Team, travel to dealer locations to root cause and disassemble unstable to ship battery packs on site rendering them to a stable state. This will require regular short-term travel, approx. 25%
  • Close Collaboration and teamwork with dock and RESS/module root cause teams
  • Champion safe disassembly of high voltage EV battery assemblies and related components while capturing failure cause and findings by supporting the teardown and diagnostic teams.
  • Maintain records on work performed including data collected or analyzed.
  • Communication of findings with engineering personnel through verbal and written means
  • Recommend revisions to process and procedures to improve safety and efficiency
  • Maintain awareness of Business Plan Deployment goals and objectives, identify and suggest relevant opportunities for improvement.
